NEW AGED CARE PLACES ON OFFER IN 2011 AGED CARE APPROVALS ROUND

Minister for Mental Health and Ageing Mark Butler has announced that more than 12,000 new aged care places throughout Australia, worth over $400 million will be on offer as part of the 2011 Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR).

FUNDING ARRANGEMENTS IN SUPPORT OF AGED CARE PROVIDERS UNDERTAKING TELEHEALTH ACTIVITIES

From 1 July 2011, Medicare Australia will introduce telehealth, an initiative that aims to address some of the barriers to accessing medical services for Australians in eligible telehealth areas. Telehealth provides financial incentives to eligible practitioners and aged care services who enable patients to participate in a video consultation called a telehealth consultation with a specialist, consultant physician or consultant psychiatrist.
